“My best moment was … the entire shooting!” – Interview with Angela Dimitrova

Angela Dimitrova, the young actress who plays the complex role of the teenager swimmer Ivana, is a genuine acting prodigy. Despite the fact that the shooting of the TV series “In Treatment” is her first major experience in front of the camera, her amazing talent captivates at once.

While we are waiting for Ivana’s first session with Dr. Terziev, scheduled for September 20th, Angela spoke with us about the shooting of the show and the parallels between her and the character she portrays.

What are the similarities between you and Ivana? What is the most annoying thing about her?
Ivana is short-tempered, a know-it-all, always in conflict with her mother, in fact, she is very similar to me. Honestly, nothing about her bothered me; quite the contrary, I have enjoyed every bit while I’ve got to know her and live her life.

Your favourite line?
“I can’t remember!”

What was the best moment during the shooting of the show?
“My best moment was … the entire shooting!” Really, I cannot pick any particular moment, since this is my first major experience in front of the cameras and everything was really amazing.

How do you think that the Macedonian audience will receive the series?
I believe that the Macedonian audience will finally get a high quality TV show, which will be not only unforgettable, but will also inspire people to think more deeply.

Which part of the shooting did you find to be the most challenging?
The greatest challenge for me was the shooting of one of the episodes where I were to spend most of the time crying incessantly. It was very strenuous to remain in such condition throughout the filming hours. I think that I shall never forget that day.

What have you learnt about yourself from the shooting of the show that explores life’s challenges seen through the prism of psychotherapy? And, and Dr. Terziev would put it, would you like to talk about it?
For the entire duration of the shooting, the energy and the atmosphere on the set was so intimate that I felt as if I am literally at a therapy session. Through Ivana I understood how specific events and moments in our lives, to which we rarely attach any meaning, may leave deep marks. How those marks, seemingly forgotten, can be very painful and hit us when we least expect it. Hence, we need to talk about it more often.
